Businesses of all sizes and industries have struggled to implement a hybrid IT environment that can meet their most critical needs, without disrupting business. The challenge is especially acute for midsized firms whose limited IT resources are facing pressure to adopt a never-ending torrent of technology innovations. In an effort to create a hybrid IT environment, many businesses end up with a multiple siloed infrastructure deployment options that consume increasing amounts of management time, effort and budget, while never quite meeting business needs.

Payments is an increasingly strategic area of focus for enterprises, impacting market expansion, customer experience, business model evolution and, ultimately, revenue growth. As the role of payments in business strategy continues to expand, enterprises need secure, reliable and scalable infrastructure to underpin their transaction acceptance and processing capabilities. Stripe commissioned 451 Research to understand how large enterprise-scale merchants are thinking through their online payments infrastructure requirements. 451 Research surveyed 800 merchants across 8 countries, including a mix of business decision-makers from payments to finance to IT. KEY FINDINGS • 87% of mid- and large-sized businesses surveyed use the cloud as their dominant payments environment. • Nearly two-thirds of respondents using the public cloud for payments have seen improvements in security, innovation and uptime, while nearly three in five cited improved scalability. • Respondents using public-cloud-

Digital commerce is enabling businesses to rethink what they sell, how they sell, and where they sell. Fickle consumer and business buyers have come to expect an intuitive and instantaneous checkout process with multiple payment options. However, aging financial infrastructure and complex interdependencies between numerous parties make it difficult and expensive to accept payments online seamlessly and across markets and currencies. Stripe meets these challenges with an API-based payments platform that abstracts away the complexities around payment gateways, acquiring banks, and credit card networks. To understand the impact of Stripe’s products on processing online payments, IDC interviewed Stripe customers and surveyed hundreds of organizations around the world about how they currently process and manage online payments. KEY FINDINGS • Many organizations are using Stripe as a foundational platform for their online businesses, with many of those also using Stripe Connect to run thei

Today’s security appliances and agents must wait until malware reaches the perimeter or endpoint before they can detect or prevent it. OpenDNS arrests attacks earlier in the kill chain. Enforcing security at the DNS layer prevents a malicious IP connection from ever being established or a malicious file from ever being downloaded. This same DNS layer of network security can contain malware and any compromised system from exfiltrating data. Command & control (C2) callbacks to the attacker’s botnet infrastructure are blocked over any port or protocol. Unlike appliances, the cloud service protects devices both on and off the corporate network. Unlike agents, the DNS layer protects every device connected to the network — even IoT. It is the easiest and fastest layer of security to deploy everywhere.

While the shift from disk to digital offers tremendous potential opportunities, it also presents a host of new challenges for gaming companies. As the online channel grows increasingly complex and the pace of innovation accelerates, many companies struggle to keep up. Not only are there websites and storefronts to manage, but also real-time gaming servers, large software downloads, and live-streamed competitions and events. Games are transforming from fixed, boxed products to dynamic, ongoing services – with frequently updated content, in-game micro-transactions, virtual goods and social interactions. Mobile adds another dimension to the trend, as consumers increasingly look to play on smart phones and tablets – or on multiple screens across devices. To successfully navigate this complex and changing landscape, gaming companies need an agile, high- performance infrastructure that allows them to turn the Internet into a reliable and effective online distribution channel. Most IT professionals today recognize that enterprise IT will be hybrid in the future. To provide the optimal foundation for each workload being deployed, the hybrid IT environment will include cloud-based infrastructures—from multiple providers—co-existing alongside infrastructure within the enterprise data center or a hosted environment. But not all hyperconverged solutions yield the same results. The right hyperconverged infrastructure can meet your IT needs both today and well into the future. In this paper, we will talk about where your data center needs to be in the next five years to meet changing business demands, and how the roles of IT professionals will evolve. We will also review “hyperconvergence” models, and how they can best meet your IT needs both today and in the future, as well as the benefits you can expect along the way. Finally, we discuss what to look for in the right hyperconverged provider, who will position your IT department for success.

IT is undergoing a significant transformation as businesses look to streamline costs and roll out a new class of cloud-based applications driven by a changing digital economy. The IT infrastructure as we know it today is not well equipped to improve on the cost structure for traditional workloads nor handle the velocity demands of a new generation of workloads where IT is a focal point for competitive differentiation. As one approach to address these changing demands of IT, vendors are bringing to market new solutions under a new category called “composable infrastructure”.

To support business continuity, many organizations eagerly avoid putting all their eggs in one basket. Understanding the critical role of last-mile connectivity and always-available Internet access, savvy firms utilize redundant wide area network (WAN) and Internet connections from multiple service providers to ensure network availability in addition to load balancing. Despite the good intentions, their Internet connectivity risks may still be in a single basket. That is because internet service providers (ISPs) and competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) may operate using leased network infrastructure from the same incumbent local exchange carrier (ILEC).

How do you maintain the security and confidentiality of your organization’s data in a world in which your employees, contractors and partners are now working, file sharing and collaborating on a growing number of mobile devices? Makes you long for the day when data could be kept behind firewalls and employees were, more or less, working on standardized equipment. Now, people literally work on the edge, using various devices and sending often unprotected data to the cloud. This dramatic shift to this diversified way of working has made secure backup, recovery and sharing of data an exponentially more difficult problem to solve. The best approach is to start with a complete solution that can intelligently protect, manage and access data and information across users, heterogeneous devices and infrastructure from a single console - one that can efficiently manage your data for today's mobile environment and that applies rigorous security standards to this function.

Pursuing agility to truly impact business transformation requires embracing data center modernization as a core competency. Crucial to this is having the most up-to-date IT infrastructure to support the scale and complexity of a changing technology landscape. Companies must embrace this imperative by adopting software-defined data center principles, embracing modernization, and automating their IT management processes. Those that do will propel business innovation and deliver superior customer experiences with fast, secure, and reliable business technology. In December 2018, Dell Technologies commissioned Forrester Consulting to evaluate the business value of modern infrastructure in company data centers. Forrester conducted an online survey with 508 IT infrastructure technology decision makers in seven countries to explore this topic. This spotlight focuses on the 102 respondents we surveyed at midmarket businesses (MBs) with 100 to 499 employees. We found that while most midmarket fi
