If you work on a network operations team, you know how increasingly hard it is to understand and ensure application performance for your end users. You need visibility into areas where issues may occur – end-user devices, network and infrastructure – in order to identify and diagnose problems quickly and minimize downtime. But it hasn’t been easy to gain this level of visibility across the WAN or hybrid network without deploying additional probes, packet capture devices or remote site technicians. Blind spots are everywhere making it difficult to focus on managing and monitoring the applications that matter the most to your business. And when nearly 50% of a network’s traffic is web-based and it all looks the same to the network, identifying your important applications and staying ahead of their performance problem is more difficult than ever. That could mean inefficient troubleshooting, longer time to resolution, and an overall lack of application intelligence. Who wants that?

The workplace has changed radically, and conventional approaches to desktop management and mobile device management (MDM) are no longer adequate for the new digital workplace. Enterprise IT must quickly and dramatically change the way it manages users’ access to digital resources to deliver a consistent experience across all devices, even as operating systems and platforms relentlessly evolve. Fortunately, with the advent of Windows 10, IT now can rethink the way it aligns endpoint management with users’ new digital work styles. Read this UBM whitepaper to learn more about how these seven “musts” can help IT fully leverage Microsoft’s newest operating system to better serve the business.

Most enterprise datacenters are so cluttered with individually constructed servers, including database servers, that staff time is largely taken up with just the maintenance of these systems. As a result, IT service to business users suffers, and the agility of the enterprise suffers. Integrated systems represent an antidote to this problem. By dramatically reducing the amount of setup and maintenance time for the applications and databases they support, integrated systems enable the technical staff to spend more of their time supporting users and enabling the enterprise to thrive.

It may seem obvious that more people are going online to shop, send emails, manage their bank accounts, and just about everything in between, but when you stop to think about just how many people use the internet, the numbers are dramatic. Just 15 years ago, nearly 27 percent of Britons were internet users; today, almost 90 percent of people in the UK use the internet.

Modern mobile applications connect systems-of-engagement (mobile apps) with systems-of-record (traditional IT) to deliver new and innovative business value. But the lifecycle for development of mobile apps is also new and different. Emerging trends in mobile development call for faster delivery of incremental features, coupled with feedback from the users of the app "in the wild". This loop of continuous delivery and continuous feedback is how the best mobile apps keep their users engaged and also produce the most compelling apps in the market. Join us for this webcast to learn about how IBM offers a solution that enables our clients to use continuous quality as an effective means of mobile application development. Trust and consumer confidence is the foundation upon which the Internet has been built. Leading commerce and financial services companies worldwide have long used Secure Socket Layer and Transport Layer Security (SSL/TLS) technologies to secure customer communications and transactions. But with the rise of Web 2.0 and social networking, people are spending more time online and logged in, and they are communicating much more than just their credit card numbers. Unfortunately, Web security practices have not always kept pace with these changes. Many organizations use the SSL/TLS protocol to encrypt the authentication process when users log in to a website, but do not encrypt subsequent pages during the user’s session. This practice is risky because it leaves website visitors vulnerable to malicious online attacks, and can result in millions of users being unknowingly exposed to threats simply by visiting a trusted website. This white paper discusses the imperative need for Always On S

"For years, developers have known that one of the best ways to reassure users is by signing code using a digital signature accessed via a private key issued by a respected certificate authority. But signed code is not invulnerable. Due to lax key security and vetting processes, malware has managed to infiltrate applications with signed code. Extended Validation (EV) Code Signing Certificates help to halt malware infiltration by requiring a rigorous vetting process and helping ensure that private key security cannot be compromised. EV certificates require a hard token and associated PIN in order to sign code, introducing a more secure physical factor of authentication to the signing process. The EV Code Signing process provides browsers, operating systems, and security software an additional source of confidence in applications signed with an EV certificate. Read the white paper, Protect Your Applications—and Reputation—with Symantec EV Code Signing, to learn: • Key background on the latest malware threats • How you can provide users with reassurance that your application is safe to download • Why EV Code Signing Certificates represent the next step in advanced website security and their effectiveness • How you can help provide a frictionless experience when users attempt to download your application "

Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) is a foundational cyber security technology. However, a properly executed SIEM strategy is difficult to execute even in static network environments with limited assets, much less for companies that have heterogeneous networks, transient end users, and plans of expansion. In this analyst report from Frost & Sullivan, you’ll read about several factors that companies big and small need to consider when purchasing and deploying a SIEM. You’ll also learn about AlienVault’s unified approach to solving for these challenges, with its on-prem appliance (USM Appliance™), and cloud-based SIEM-as-service, (USM Anywhere™). New digital technology now makes it feasible to integrate process control and SIF within a common automation infrastructure. While this can provide productivity and asset management benefits, if not done correctly, it can also compromise the safety and security of an industrial operation. Cybersecurity and sabotage vulnerability further accentuate the need for securing the safety instrumented system (SIS). Certainly, a common platform approach using similar hardware and software dedicated for control and safety functions, respectively, can provide the potential for cost savings. However, it is widely acknowledged that utilizing separate, independent, and diverse hardware/software for safety and control is the optimal way to protect against potentially catastrophic common cause and systematic design and application errors. Different vendors offer varied degrees of integration and solutions. The question is: how to provide an integrated control and safety solution with advanced functionality and productivity without compromising safety and security? And, where do users draw the line? A third-party (e.g., TÜV) certification of the hardware/software systems to IEC 61508 specifications carries significant advantages, but should this be the only criterion? How does a third-party certificate extend to the plant’s overall assignment of risk reduction credits for all independent protection layers (IPL)? Control system embedded safety logic solvers may actually increase the SIL requirements of the SIF if no credit is allowed for the distributed control system (DCS) as an IPL. Download the white paper to learn more.

It's important to optimize the Siebel application for your own unique business environment, user needs and usage patterns. But, it's all for naught if you do not build and sustain adoption and efficient and effective use of the Siebel application by your end users.
