IT Transformation is a concept that is not synonymous with digital transformation, but the two concepts are fundamentally linked. A business that transforms its IT infrastructure no longer has to rely on rigid, manual, siloed legacy technologies. Updating IT often yields a boost in IT operational speed, efficiency, scale, and cost effectiveness ? tasks become automated, processes streamlined, and resources freed up. These IT-level improvements fuel a larger-scale digital transformation enabling businesses to out-innovate, out-think, and out-pace its competitors in today’s digital economy. "Flash has permeated enterprise storage in small, medium-sized, and large enterprises as well as among webscale customers like cloud and service providers. It is available in a variety of different system architectures, including internal storage, hyperconverged and converged platforms, and shared storage arrays. Revenue driven by shared storage arrays, of both the hybrid flash array (HFA) and the all-flash array (AFA) type, is much larger than from other segments today and will continue to dominate enterprise storage spend through at least 2020."

All-flash storage is on a strong growth trajectory, but the industry is not swooning naively over the blazing fast I/O speeds. Most IT managers are talking a mature, step-by-step approach to all-flash adoption. Falling per-gigabyte prices are making the technology more commonplace. Solid state drives are no longer just for specialized, high-performing tasks. Before they leap, however, storage professionals want to understand the full business picture as they formulate a winning strategy for putting all-flash storage to use for more workloads. This paper offers insights for business success with all-flash storage based on IT Central Station reviews. Real users weigh in on what it takes to get the most out of the technology. It covers such aspects of flash storage as the need for simplicity and the importance of flexibility. The paper also looks at how to build a business case for all-flash and think through the implications of issues such as integration with existing infrastructure.

This IDC study provides an evaluation of 10 vendors that sell all-flash arrays (AFAs) for dense mixed enterprise workload consolidation that includes at least some mission-critical applications. "All-flash arrays are dominating primary storage spend in the enterprise, driving over 80% of that revenue in 2017," said Eric Burgener, research director, Storage. "Today's leading AFAs offer all the performance, capacity scalability, enterprise-class functionality, and datacenter integration capabilities needed to support dense mixed enterprise workload consolidation. More and more IT shops are recognizing this and committing to 'all flash for primary storage' strategies."

Virtualization is the standard in enterprise IT environments for consolidating servers, enhancing businstrators that reduces their Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and helps speed the application development process. However, as improvements have been made with server technology, storage technoless continuity, and improving business agility. VMware provides an architecture for server adminiogy has become the bottleneck. Legacy storage solutions can’t keep pace with thousands of virtual machines demanding maximum IOPS along with high bandwidth at the lowest latency. Infinidat’s InfiniBox removes the storage bottleneck for VMware environments. The InfiniBox enterprise storage array delivers faster-than-all-flash performance, high availability, and capacity density at petabyte scale. This Infinidat white paper is written for VMware and storage administrators to introduce them to the integration capabilities of the InfiniBox for VMware.

The emphasis on fast flash technology concentrates much attention on hot, frequently accessed data. However, budget pressures preclude consuming such premium-priced capacity when the access frequency diminishes. Yet many organizations do just that, unable to migrate effectively to lower cost secondary storage on a regular basis. In this white paper, explore: • How the relative proportion of hot, warm, and cooler data changes over time • New machine learning (ML) techniques that sense the cooling temperature of data throughout its half-life • The role of artificial intelligence (AI) in migrating data to the most cost-effective tier.
