All-flash storage is on a strong growth trajectory, but the industry is not swooning naively over the blazing fast I/O speeds. Most IT managers are talking a mature, step-by-step approach to all-flash adoption. Falling per-gigabyte prices are making the technology more commonplace. Solid state drives are no longer just for specialized, high-performing tasks. Before they leap, however, storage professionals want to understand the full business picture as they formulate a winning strategy for putting all-flash storage to use for more workloads. This paper offers insights for business success with all-flash storage based on IT Central Station reviews. Real users weigh in on what it takes to get the most out of the technology. It covers such aspects of flash storage as the need for simplicity and the importance of flexibility. The paper also looks at how to build a business case for all-flash and think through the implications of issues such as integration with existing infrastructure.

With the maturing of the all-flash array (AFA) market, the established market leaders in this space are turning their attention to other ways to differentiate themselves from their competition besides just product functionality. Consciously designing and driving a better customer experience (CX) is a strategy being pursued by many of these vendors. This white paper defines cloud-based predictive analytics and discusses evolving storage requirements that are driving their use and takes a look at how these platforms are being used to drive incremental value for public sector organizations in the areas of performance, availability, management, recovery, and information technology (IT) infrastructure planning.

The emphasis on fast flash technology concentrates much attention on hot, frequently accessed data. However, budget pressures preclude consuming such premium-priced capacity when the access frequency diminishes. Yet many organizations do just that, unable to migrate effectively to lower cost secondary storage on a regular basis. In this white paper, explore: • How the relative proportion of hot, warm, and cooler data changes over time • New machine learning (ML) techniques that sense the cooling temperature of data throughout its half-life • The role of artificial intelligence (AI) in migrating data to the most cost-effective tier.

As IT demands mount, IT organizations simply no longer have the luxury of spending resources to verify every vendor promise. Systems just need to work, while delivering a future free from costly data migrations. As a response, IT vendors have begun to offer guarantees in performance, guarantees in data reduction rates, guarantees in data deduplication, or free upgrades. These programs, however, are often limited to a single storage or data protection product offering, typically with all-flash technology. Dell EMC solutions, powered by Intel® Xeon® processor goes one step further with a program that delivers a future-proof infrastructure promise that extends to its larger storage, hyperconverged, and data protection portfolio and provides support across both generational and architectural transitions.

Over the past several years, the IT industry has seen solid-state (or flash) technology evolve at a record pace. Early on, the high cost and relative newness of flash meant that it was mainly relegated to accelerating niche workloads. More recently, however, flash storage has “gone mainstream” thanks to maturing media technology. Lower media cost has resulted from memory innovations that have enabled greater density and new architectures such as 3D NAND. Simultaneously, flash vendors have refined how to exploit flash storage’s idiosyncrasies—for example, they can extend the flash media lifespan through data reduction and other technique

We started with a simple question: What surprises have you experienced since you started deploying flash storage in your organization? Of course, surprises can be good or they can be bad, but we sought to understand what may have changed – and what’s not changed – since our survey respondents deployed flash storage into their environments. To that end, we asked 1,000 people to share with us their attitudes and experiences around storage. In this report, we will share with you what we learned and how you may be able to use this information to better inform your own path forward.

This IDC study represents a vendor assessment model called the IDC MarketScape. It's a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the characteristics that assess vendors' current and future success in the AFA market segment and provide a measure of the vendors' ascendancy to become a Leader or maintain a leadership position. IDC MarketScape assessments are particularly helpful in emerging markets that are often fragmented, have several players, and lack clear leaders.

OTS' experiences with all-flash technology mirror what many customers have experienced over the past several years. Hesitatingly optimistic, OTS deployed its first AFA in a limited environment to prove the system out, and when it performed and/or exceeded the company's expectations, it quickly started moving more workloads to it over time. Like OTS, many customers do not immediately retire their legacy storage, but in moving the more demanding workloads off of their existing environments, they provide better application performance both for those applications on the AFA and for those that stay on the legacy storage. And like OTS, the majority of AFA customers have in the past year in particular come to the conclusion that all-flash technology is the future of primary storage for performance, reliability, ease of management and expansion, and economic (as measured by total cost of ownership) reasons.

Exploits are one of the main techniques used by cybercriminals to spread malware. They take advantage of weaknesses in legitimate software products like Flash and Microsoft Office to infect computers for their criminal ends. A single exploit can be used by myriad separate pieces of malware, all with different payloads. Read this paper to learn more about exploits and how to stop them. We’ll explore how exploits work, the exploit industry overall, what makes a good exploit in the eyes of the cybercriminals, and also how anti-exploit technology is a highly efficient and effective way to secure your organization against advanced and unknown threats.
