Threats have become a board-level concern and it’s fueled a spending spree in security products over the last two years. So why don’t companies feel more prepared to identify and respond to these threats? For many organizations, disconnected point solutions have increased the complexity of their security environments, making it difficult to respond quickly to threats – and nearly impossible to demonstrate ROI. IBM Security commissioned Forrester Consulting to evaluate the state of security complexity and the effect it is having on security efficiency and effectiveness. In the study, many respondents reported taking steps to simplify their security environments and the results are promising. Fill out this form to read more about it.

Your security products send alerts when a cyber attack strikes. Your incident response plan tells you what to do to block the attacker’s action and recover normal operations. But do you know how or where the attacker was able to get into your environment? Do you understand the tactics, techniques and procedures the attacker used? In short, to move to the next level of security, organizations need a way to both understand and manage threat intelligence. Because an organization that can uncover the context of a threat can also better respond to it. Learn more about the impact of security threats from this whitepaper. For decades, a server refresh was viewed solely through a technical lens: Deploying new hardware provides better performance and capacity. However, that narrow viewpoint must be modified and broadened in the age of digital transformation. Organizations not only want underlying performance; they want better IT economics as well. Today, a server refresh project offers IT the opportunity to fundamentally improve the economics and operations of the data center by moving to a broad and pervasive use of hyperconverged infrastructure. HCI is a software-defined IT infrastructure that virtualizes all storage and compute resources, making them available as a single pool. In many ways, HCI can enable IT to deliver resources at near economic parity with cloud services.

Companies with multicloud services are outperforming their peers on a number of metrics — and achieving the key objectives that led them to the cloud services model. Take a look at the IT ecosystem of any company today and there’s a good chance you’ll find it includes offerings from several cloud services providers. That’s certainly the case at mid- to large-sized companies with at least 500 employees, according to a recent survey conducted by IDG Research. The survey of 100 senior IT professionals found that 59% are already multi-cloud adopters — that is, using computing and storage services from two or more cloud providers. Another 31% of respondents say they plan to become multi-cloud organizations in the coming 12-24 months, with only 10% still in the “consideration” phase. The survey results also reveal interesting insights into the drivers behind multicloud adoption. The perennial desire to reduce IT costs remains important, but the respondents rate two other factors.

Moving major, business-supporting applications to the cloud can be a challenge for a variety of reasons. You may have concerns about the physical migration of data, as data loss or business disruption stemming from a migration issue would be a disaster for the business. Security is another typical concern, as a data breach of your most sensitive applications—like SAP or Oracle— could prove highly damaging. Akin to security, data sovereignty is an issue for many businesses. Stringent compliance laws in some jurisdictions are dictating data “residency”; and in the cloud, it is not always clear where the data is housed. Among managed cloud service users, 68% state that using such services helps them to better manage resource allocation and make SAP and Oracle costs more predictable. In this paper, we will look at common concerns over deploying and optimally managing business-critical, legacy applications in the cloud. We consider the benefits of managed cloud services, and how your

Business demands are shifting. The pace of technology is speeding up. The ability to deliver applications faster while building a hybrid cloud strategy is no longer a nice-to-have, but a must-have for modern businesses looking to stay competitive while meeting customer needs. The fast pace of digital business spurred organizations around the world to embrace compute virtualization, which transformed the data center over the past decade. But that transformation isn’t complete. Many IT teams still rely on hardware-centric approaches to storage and networking, which are expensive and time-consuming to manage and maintain, and don’t provide the flexibility and agility that today’s users demand. In an era where speed and performance are critical, moving to a software-centric approach in every area of the data center is the only way to get ahead. That’s why so many organizations are turning to hyperconverged infrastructure.

Cyber-attacks targeting technology and telecommunications firms represent the most significant threat to their sensitive customer data and invaluable intellectual property. When successful, such attacks cost these firms dearly, not only in terms of immediate loss of revenue but also in the form of subsequent reputational damage. Technology firms that provide digital services or house vast quantities of user information are particularly at risk, as demonstrated in the Uber breach that exposed the personal information of more than 25 million users. Regulations around personal data, such as GDPR, increasingly require technology firms to adopt a robust cyber defense strategy that can detect cyber-threats at an early stage. Cyber-attacks aimed at technology firms with lucrative IP have also become a fact of life in the Information Age. Often perpetrated by nation-state actors with advanced capabilities, these attacks are now remarkably subtle and stealthy, with some of the latest examples b
