The most problematic scenario engineers encounter when analyzing large deformation solutions using the finite element method is convergence issues due to mesh distortion. This is typical, for example, during simulation of elastomeric sealing or metal forming applications. Complex nonlinearities due to mechanical and/or thermal behavior arise in such cases from inherent material properties, geometric changes and establishment or separation of contact interfaces. The manual rezoning feature which was released in ANSYS 10.0 gave analysts a highly customizable, albeit labor-intensive, workflow to change and repair the mesh whenever needed after an unconverged solution. However, since the release of ANSYS 15.0, the latest “NonLinear ADaptivity” (NLAD) feature and accompanying enhancements are as automatic as one can imagine for repairing mesh distortion, overcoming convergence difficulties, refining the mesh to capture local phenomenon and achieving the “true” design solution.

Like the oxygen we breathe, journey analytics brings life to the customer behind those devices, over time getting to know their favorite pastry choice, when they’re most likely to buy gas, and how long they stay online while in the station’s café. WHY SHOULD THE TARGET AUDIENCE CARE? Business struggle to gain a holistic customer view — the skills to identify actionable insights from multichannel data are in short supply. If they could gain a holistic view of customer attributes and behaviors, they could make sure they get the right content at the right time. SUPPORTING CONCEPTS If you want your customers to enjoy seamless, personalized experiences, you need to treat them like people. That means marketing to the person — not the device. When you know a customer’s interests, wants, and needs — perhaps even before they do — you’ve succeeded at becoming a true experience business. o With foot traffic falling and online shopping options growing, retailers must find new ways to “digitize” and understand real-world behavioral data—such as in-store browsing patterns, staff attentiveness, and specific product interest— in the same way that online retail utilizes big data to optimize online experiences. They must also find innovative ways to keep customers engaged with their brands, especially in expensive brick-and-mortar locations. In this environment, managing labor costs is critical, as these costs are second only to real estate. Assigning and enabling sales associates cost-effectively is key to profitability.
